You know what I ended up going with the Superwinch LT3000. $122 shipped from amazon. It has the mechanical brake, fast line speed, and only 15 amp current draw. Venom gave me their specs, and teh speed was good but it was drawing TWICE the current that the superwinch does. Between shifting and running the lights, I don't need that extra draw. Plus superwinch comes with a 2 year mechanical warranty and apparently has good CS. Seemed like the best bet as far as the cheap winches go. Thanks for all the advice!
nice i might have to look into getting that one 1500 isn't enough anymore and i want the updated electrical and handle bar rocker switch i got the old one that all the wires go into its one big ugly switch lol

For anyone that wants to update the switch to a mini rocker style (or replace a contactor and have extra parts) Venom does have the kits to do that for around $30.

I thought about getting one but and this is a big but ,I would like to see it in action pushing wet heavy snow !!!! Not fluff or power ,the wet stuff that likes to stick to the blade every time you want to go up!!!!!

And it just stays there an heavy as **** to pick up
and then scrape off by hand!!!!:rant

I heard that those are really slow compared to a winch. My buddy called and talked to a rep at warn who told him a winch is going to lift and drop much faster. A slow lift would get annoying quickly.
