Make sure the right handle brake leaver is fully returned.. has a safety switch in it

hello thanks for the reply there is 4 wires going on that little switch
i had to tighten the two little screws because the brake light was on all the time
is there a way to bypass the safety switch to see if problem goes away i went out today and it fired right up without that problem

 

The switch is for starting in gear(stalled in thick mud) make sure it returns. (pull right hand brake for start in gear)

 

OK the switch is not my problem mine will start in gear
like i said sometimes after it starts up it will not rev up its like the choke if on then turn key off and back on it runs like it should
and sometimes put it into gear then motor will run like it should
is there something in the carb that might cause this
i do not use the choke to start it so thinking its not that

 

Do you have to pull the front brake lever for it to start in gear? To rule them out just unplug them and see what happens.

If the start in gear switch is activated the machine will studder, its a safety thing so you dont take off fast when starting in gear. Next time it studders make sure brake lever is fully released.

 

no it will start in gear without pulling the brake lever in
i will unhook the switch tonight and see what happens

ok i had time to unhook the little switch and no luck it still does it
when it runs like this i can put on full choke and it does not change the sound of the motor
and sometimes you turn off key and back on and away you go
and took a small screw driver and lifted up the slide in the carb when it ran like this and no change at all

 

You unplugged both switches? Ones or the bake light and the other is for the start in gear. Is it displaying the R when in reverse? Try pulling the lever back a touch, it might need adjusting and isn't operating the switch on the shifter correctly.

yes i unhooked the two wires on the safety switch
the brake light still works so i got the right two wires because it wont start in gear now
yes the R is displaying when i go into reverse
so there is a other safety switch on the gear shifter ?

i will cheek it after work because sometimes when you put it into gear the motor runs like it should
