I started this thread after i mentioned in another thread i was going to change out my oil in my rubicon with Shell Rotella t6 5w40 oil. It created quite a stir. I've read a few of your comments in my other post, but i'm looking to get more insite into this issue. Is the Rotella safe for the Hondamatic? How many have used it? I don't think it has any harmful additives but i'm not an expert. Please explain if you know. Thanks

Just an update to my ride running the Rotella t6 synthetic. It runs flawlessly. I had trans noises before on the old oil when i bought my Rubicon. It only had 900 miles on it. Changed out the oil and cleaned the filter, and ran chevron techron through two tanks of fuel and it's running like new. I had hard starting issues before, now you touch the starter and it's running perfect. I just went on a camping trip where we worked the transmission hard riding two up going up some long technical grades. It sounds so smooth and has that honda whine that i love. It shifts between drive, low and reverse like butter now also. I'll run it long term and i'll post back if i ever have a problem.
I recently switched for GN4 to Shell Rotella T6 in my 2011 Rubicon and my 2012 Big Red.

Needless to say, wish I had done it sooner........ T6 is great, IMO.

Syn. Oil is the only way to go.
Only one negative is to keep the dinosaur oil in new vehicle's until the break in time is up. Syn. Oil is Soo slippery it it won't let the ring's seat to the cylinder.
Personal preference I like to run Valvoline oil, with the addatives for the clutches.

I run Honda HP4 in all 3 machines after break in miles. May move to HP4S for the 2021 Rubicon next change. Opinions? Anyone use HP4S in the older machines. I have a 2003 Rubicon and a 2004 450ES as well as the 2021 Deluxe DCT EPS. TIA
