Won't start makes a clicking noise
Hi everyone.
I have a 2007 Rubicon. Out of the blue the other day it would not start, it would just make a clicking noise.
First thought the battery was dead, so I charged it. Same thing, click noise. The noise comes from the battery area and not from the engine area.
All the headlights and dash lights come on so I don't think it is a power issue, but I could be wrong.
Any ideas??

Tapping worked for me too. Starter is only 1 year old. I remembered I had to do this with the motor on an old pontoon boat I bought too. Did that to get the starter to engage the first season and ever since then (10 years) haven't touched it since

Sound you hear is the starter solenoid. You need to check to see if the starter is getting voltage when hitting start button. If it is, then its the starter. If no voltage to starter, its the solenoid.
I just did the exact same dance with my 2002 Recon - I had the clicking, replaced the solenoid, more research, then replaced the battery ($ 100) , still just clicking..... Hit the starter with a hammer and she starts every time...Wont start makes clicking noise
Hello , New to the forum, Just a quick reply to the question, my 02 did the same thing, so when in doubt use a hammer. Crud may build up inside your starter, so gently tap the starter with the hammer and see if that takes care of the problem, it did for me.

I have a 1999 450 foreman doing the same thing !!
Sounds like it. Just ordered one myself for same reason. Jump the solenoid with a screwdriver and it should start.The fuses are all good.
All the connections are tight.
I think it is the solenoid itself that is clicking?
Would that mean its gone?
