Winches...

I have seen a lot about Warn, Mile Marler and Ramsey. What is the general opinion on the best one for the money? I have found a 2.5 Warn for 295, but is there anything comparable or better for roughly the same price?

I will be going with a 2500 lb Venom winch from ebay -- $130 shipped for the complete kit. I cannot find one negative comment about them on any message boards.
My wife just bought a brand new Warn 2.5 Ci for $253 shipped off of E-Bay and I have the same winch on my Foreman, I have had no problems and have pulled myself and several others over the last year and a half. In my opnion, you can't go wrong with a Warn.
I have a gorilla off ebay and no problems YET... AND I already took it swiming and muddin
The Warn winches cost more because they pull faster and in some cases a little harder. The 3.0 are sealed.
I have the 2500lbs Venom Winch on my 05 Foreman and it has worked great almost every time, just had trouble out of it once, but it was my fault. Where is a pic of my Foreman when it decided to mess up. It took us about 45 mins to get it out.
i love my milemarker pe 3500 it cost $229.95.. i tried to teach my foreman how to scuba dive bout 3 weeks ago. it didnt work and flipped up side down in the pond. and 3weeks after this incident, my brother gets his dually stuck.i pull my winch out and to my suprise it worked, water coming out of the motor and all. the contactor still works, but the Warn Mini Rocker Switch doesnt but i havent got the volt meter out yet. so that should tell you something.., this one milemarker is awesome so far.

Do you mind elaborating on what went wrong with the winch? I am probably going to be buying the exact one before too long. Got any pics of the install? Did it go in ok?
The cable slipped between the spool and the case and got wrapped around itself twice due to having it at too much of an angle and letting it get slack in the cable at the wrong time. I had to cut 14' of the cable off because it had almost cut itself in half. I have had to use it 2 times since then with no problems, I just watch the cable as it spools in. I did have a little problem with the 2 bolts at the front of the mount plate. I had to drill out the holes bigger to get the bolts to go through. I have a circle around the bolts I had problems with.

Not sure about pulling harder... My 3000 MM pulls like there is no tomorrow. It may not be the fastest but it has not let me down yet. It never slows down, just keeps pulling and never gets hot. $199 shipped.
oh yea, the only time mine got hot is when i pulled my brothers truck out.... but i could still hold my hand on it with out hurting. my friends warn 3.0 gets hot pretty quick... but he is the only one i know of that has it...

and like truegrit said,,, it never slows down, just makes some weird noises. That might be sand and grit in mine though.. hahaha
Well, I did it. I ended up getting a Warn 3.0CE for $425. Now all I have to find is a mounting plate for it!
