I got my new Viper hook up finally after some mount problems and my switches for the handlebar switch and remote are backwards. Is there a simple way to reverse some wires?

It would be best ot figure out which leads you have reversed. It could be the 2 ends on the winch, the others ends of those cables at the contactor, OR the 2 power supply cables (12v + and 12v- )

In a nutshell you can swap the 2 big cables at the winch and it will solve your issue. All the contactor does it swap polarity to make the DC motor go forward or backward.
agree, I had the same problem even though I thought I wired it right. I called the help number and they said no problem just switch the wires on the winch.

And no problems doing that? You would think putting the pos on the neg post would hurt something.

On a DC reversable motor there is no such thing as pos or neg post. They color code them for continuity in wiring, and to make sure your switch doesn't work backwards... if it is hooked up correctly at the control box
Has the cable ever been completly un wound from the drum? I've seen cables wound in the wrong direction after they had been fully extended. This would make it seem like the switch is backwards. Just a thought.

GOOD POINT! It should reel/unreel from the bottom, at least all the ones I have seen do it this way.
I also asked the tech guy at viper about spool direction. He said viper should run off the top but he said you can reverse that too. Mine had too much of an angle of the top so I wound it up the other way so it was a straight shot to the rollers.

I think the Tech you spoke to is mistaken, see photo from their website...

yea I saw that too. Just the messenger, when I got mine it was coming off the top. he said it didnt matter too much. I actually was told that by two people at viper
BTW, call Moto Alliance, they are the distributors for Viper, ask for the owner (can't remember his name) he posts on HighLifter Forum (among others) all the time and boasts about their customer service for the Vipers. I know he knows better than those winchs spool from the top.. at least I think he does.

He should be able to step you thru the proper connection also.
