Vett I dont know of any other here with head work done to there bikes. I would be guessing, just as you are doing. Jetting is alway trial and error. Have you looked at your plug, whats it look like?
well i havent run it yet . but i dont use the plug to much because that only show low end condition, because you cant go wide open in 5th and pull a clutch in and cut the motor .but i might need to up the pilot jet too.

Think about what you just said, you can clutch the bike by holding the shifter down. But you have to be coordinated to do it and shut the bike down at the same time. Let us know what you fine out.
i have es model i ve tried to hold the button up and down but it still pulls
Sorry didn't even see that your bike was an ES model.
maybe ill put a wrench on the manual shifter shaft and try that .

NO DONT DO THAT!!! you run the risk of damaging the tranny. Just run it in 5th gear and hit the key or kill switch while still in gear. that will giveyou the most accurate reading as the atv is still under full load when it gets shut off, doing this will not harm anything at all. It will still roll nicely in 5th gear while not running. IIRC I saw people on the HL site running jets in the 140s+ range with a BBK or HC pistons.
how does shifting with a wrench hurt the tranny it just moves the gear just like a foot shifter and the es motor does, and you can hold the clutch open and not worry ??????
No it does not shift like a regular foot shifter. The es shifts alot faster than the s models. That shifter thing they give you with the es bikes is for EMERGENCY use only. It may not damage the tranny itself, but it could damage the shift forks. The es are designed to shift FAST unlike the s models. Do some resarch on the subject of the foot shifters on an es and see for yourself.
i lookin at the book and all the trans and springs and clutches are same part numbers and i see no note sayin it will hurt anything.
Ok do what ever you want to do its your bike. Maybe it wont hurt it but... Read your owners manual about the emergency foot shifter. It says to select a gear and leave it, put the wrench AWAY.... DO NOT shift while moving. Maybe honda mechanic could shed some light on this for us???
