What is a good tire for....

i have heard the superswamper tsl's are good in moutains, mud, snow and wear good. they only got 3/4" tread though.

maxxis bighorns are highly rated but heavy. i personally use itp xtr radials with great satisfaction. the itp terracross look promising.

The bighorns are great but heavy and expensive. An alternative that has almost the exact same tread as the bighorn is the GBC Dirt Tamer. I have a friend that has dirt tamers and one that has the bighorns and they are almost identical and the Dirt Tamer is much cheaper. Only drawback is the dirt tamer is a bias-ply tire and not a radial.

I've been happy with my GBC Dirt Devils.Over 600 miles on them and they still look like new.They seem to work for me in all types of terrain.

I think the terracross have excellent traction but wear out quickly. I have not owned a set but this is what I've read, kind of like the XTR's.

really? because i thought itp's lasted a long time my dad has a 95 foreman 400 with 26 itp 589's and they havent worn down a bit

How about the Outlaw MST?... I'm waiting on a set now - it sounds like we ride similar terrain

589's are a totally different tire than the Terracross and XTR.

I ride on our property just south of trinidad where we're going to build our house around 6500' my brother is coming out here to cololrado from minnesota we were goning to ride around our property but we still have a ton a snow from the last blizzard when we got 5 feet

it is weird how good the hondas without EFI adapt to the change in alititude when we lived in minnesota we were around 1000' and our hondas run exactly the same out here we have three hondas a 95 foreman 400 an 01 foreman 450 ES and a 06 foreman 500 ES yeah we love the foremans ever since my dad got his 95

Maxxis Bighorn is my top choice

ITP Mudlite XTR's Great all round tire. A little heavy though.....

Don't worry about the weight so much, everything weights more than the stockers. Maxxis Bighorns are heavier than most, the 26" of the Bighorns weight 1.5 lbs more than the 27" ITP Mud Lites. Bighorns are not nearly as good in the mud, but are great for "true" rockcrawlin, but who on here is really doing that? For trailriding on mountains I would say its a toss-up.
