What do spring spacers do for the atv? Does it give it a lift or what?

we use sch 80 pvc to make our spacers out of. So far we have not had any problems with them.
RR the spacers are used under the shock springs to give more lift.

I dont know what they are a buddy of man says it helps lift them
they stiffen the spring up so it gets rid of sag. kind of like lift springs
can someone give me more info.... like how to make them and how to install.......... and is this an alternative to the liftsprings.......
