[Rhonda the honda]

Hi guys and gals, I have a trx500 es quad , and has just started giving me problems with the electronic shifting ,, on the speedo it flashes 3 times ,either a 1 or R , obviously whatever gear it is in ,, its been sitting in my shed for 2 days ,, and you can walk past it ,turn the key on and it will be normal ,go back later on ( without moving or starting the bike ) and it will be showing that fault .. Can anyone shed some light on what this may be ,?? HELP!!

Has it been in any water over the engine? I suspect it could be a faulty shifter motor. I would check the connections on the shift motor up front and if they are not the issue(after cleaning them) I would pull the motor and clean the contacts on it
