That is not uncommon. Ford does the same think on there cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When the light goes out you need to replace the whole board. But if you think it is the LED you could take a volt meter and measure and see if there is voltage if there is then look at radio shack they have LED's and then just solder the new one in.
I disagree. My buddy has a 99 foreman that he noticed the neutral light was out. He soldered in a new led and it worked fine. You can get leds ad radio shack
