I agree, a SRA certainly in an important feature on some bikes and for a lot of people this is the only way to go. However, there are a lot of people riding this machines now and everyones needs and wants are different. For me I need a machine that can plow snow do light yard work and be very corfortable on a long trail ride. I don't need, nor do I want, more than 500 cc of power and the Rubicon does nearly everthing that I require in a quad. However, I think that it would be a much better machine if it had IRS.

I don't want a Rincon, cause it does have low gear and just a 3 speed tranny.

I feel that Honda has a very good work machine in the Foreman and I don't think that they should change one thing on that bike. It is the perfect work machine, but to have another work machine in the 500 cc class that is very similar to the foreman in everyway except tranny and Liquid cooled is silly.

With it's auto tranny and the reputation of reliability the Rubicon has if they put IRS on this bike ( and maybe EFI) I would bet that it would be the best selling quad on the market. They would not beable to keep this thing on the showroom floor and the waiting list for a bike like this would be years. Once again, they HAVE a 500 cc work bike. A lot of Honda people are going to Yamaha, suzuki, Can Am ,Polaris and Artic Cat to get the 500cc Trail bike that they want. Most do not want to leave Honda but a lot of these people feel if Honda isn't willing to change than they have to.

The IRS system on the Rincon is second to none and it would work perfactly on the Rubicon.
I agree but good luck getting them to notice... Honda is not about ATV's anymore... They are about the racing scene with dirt bikes and quad's the only new improvement in the 500cc class in 8 years is power stearing... Then they give there new racing quad IRS... what the f*ck is that about, you can give a racing quad IRS but not the utility line?? And the rincon is a joke. Have you actually looked at the rear of this bike? It looks like some one crammed 10 pounds of sh*t in a 5 pound bag and left it there..the exaust design is awful and so is the suspension.

Sorry to say but my next quad will be the Grizzly 660 or 700.. Honda has lost me

I have to disagree, I choose my Rubicon because it has the straight axle (SA) . I didn’t pick it to be a work bike. I picked it to use on the trail and when hunting. The SA is more fun in the mud and snow or just to slide around and play. It’s also more stable on when riding parallel on an incline. The IRS is nice I have it on my King Quad but my Rubicon will go anywhere it will and feel more stable doing it. As far as the EFI goes, the old, ancient, out dated, fossilized, carb that is supplied on the Rubicon seems to do just fine. I seem to have plenty of throttle response, plenty of power and the darn thing starts on the first crank every time I push the button even when it’s -3 degrees go figure I guess my bike is just a freak. Everyone has their own opinions . When you go shopping go to a dealer with three or four brands and you’ll see the Rubicon stands out from all the other bikes

Hello There.
I'm on my 2nd honda Rubi now a 07. my first one was a 05. NO probs on either bike.
In 06 i bought a 660 grizz. (WOW!!! What a mistake!) In the 6 months i own'd it It broke down 5 times cv joint. Rear diff. Slipping belt. front drive shaft bent. front A arm bent!
I'll pick a HONDA every time now. NOTHING else even comes close
to HONDA Relability.
They really are BOMBPROOF!
p.s. straight axles are stronger too (less moving parts)

Guess he decided on another bike maybe?

I've got an '06 that I've been riding since last summer, and haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood with fingers crossed). If I were to buy another bike right now, price in mind, I'd get another Rubi (I paid $5400 for mine, not counting winch, wheels, tires). I ride with a previous Kodiak 450 owner (2004) that actually traded his bike in on a new 350 2wd Rancher and never looked back, due to constant problems with the Yamaha. I also ride with an Eiger that seems to live in the shop.

Its amazing how cold its been here in Canada last couple weeks , with winds -30 and up stady - 15/-20 .This quad will start no prob at first or second crank than i'll travel at hwy speeds for a bit and thats COLD go to unload she fires right up you can tell its cold but still ready for action .
Now what grizzly owner can say that or for that matter yamaha when all i hear is how hard they are to start cold??

if i travel 1 or 2 hrs down the hwy in the winter i expect my quad to fire up and Honda will do that for me.

Rubicon

Hi I have an 07 in camo, does what I need it to from drinking beer, cutting wood, pulling a double harrow. I left stock tires and wheels, cannot believe the traction and plenty of power. Can be a bit cold natured, but everything I've owned has been that way, just use to letting them warm up a bit before taking off. My choice was between Grizzly or Rubicon, picked the Rubicon just because it seems more like workhorse, thats what I bought it for. I heard the Can-Ams are hot rods/fast if thats what you want. I don't mud but play around in the creek when its dried up, cannot believe how the Rubicon climbs out over the banks in 4x4, hugs the ground like a dream.

i bought a 01 rubicon from the dealer as soon as they could sell me one and i loved it , but then about 250 miles later it started breaking my ba--s everytime i took it out, the electrical would go haywire like you wouldnt beleive and from 250 miles to 990 she was always breaking down and i take good care of my stuff and then one day limping her home she instantly burst into flames burnt right to the ground rims and all! 2 miles from civilazation i had no fire extinguisher to put it out and i had to go to the hospital from tearing dirt up to throw on it, i had no insurance but i did have the extended warranty honda flew reps out from cali. to meet with me and i showed them the bike and where it happened and they basicly told me to go stuff myself, so i hired a arson investigator and he told me it had faulty wiring and tell honda, so i payed off my $8000.oo mistake and switched to bomber for a few years but that was another mistake, and here i am back with honda even a rubicon and now i have insurance a hard lesson learned my 03 has been great to me but i just got it in nov. with only 760 miles on it and its at 950 now, every brand has there lemons but what honda did to me was wrong and i was not the only one, the dealer i went through closed since due to bad management CHENANGO IMPORTS UTICA N.Y. so honda still owes me $8000.oo in my opinion and every lawyer told me i didnt have a chance and honda rep said they would fight it till the day i die, so before i die years from now i will get my $8000.oo back the legal way or other means and i dont give a s--- if they see this KARMAS A BI---!!!!!!!!!!

I havent had my 2011 for three months yet and I'm already regretting buying a SRA bike. I go mudding/deep water and I have trouble following the IRS bikes through the good holes. It is light and does float but after following canams with 31s I tend to end up in bad spots. I do like the low range and push button shift and 4wd but it is underpowered and gets high centered often.

I hate to say it as well, I sometimes regret buying my 06 rubicon last year. It has been super reliable, but i can't keep up to my friends with the Kingquads and Polaris machines. It boils down to IRS and i get beat up and have to go much slower than they do. I am also way down on power compared to them. All of them call my quad the tractor because it can pull more than theirs, but i've been pulled out of mud holes by them because of my ground clearance. They ride me over this because i'm one of the only honda's in the hunting group, but i'm waiting for the day i have to tow one of them back to camp. So far it hasn't happened and my friend's Kingquad 700 has been super reliable just like my Rubicon, but he leaves me in the dust. Maybe Honda will update the Rubicon this year?? I sure hope so or i might be going Kinqquad 750axi or Grizzly for my next machine.

The only thing the rubi is getting that I know of is fuel injection. I dont think they'll ever make it an IRS machine because it was designed with work in mind. The only other honda alternative is the rincon which is more reliable than the other big bores but still lacks the power of them.

I keep up with everybody on mine as well.....however I tend to slow down at high speed because I still like my teeth.

I think out of our main group I can go through every hole the big bores go through also, but most guys are afraid of beating their machines and getting stuck in something too big.....where I know the big bores with their power and ground clearance would eat me alive.
