the silinoid contacts might be stuck. it's right under the seat by the battery. try tapping on it to see if it will knock the circuit loose. you can also check to make sure the starter button is not stuck in.

When I attach my cables to my battery the starter automatically turns even when it fires up it still it turning....what could be wrong?

Just what DIRTY said,the solenoid is stuck.It's not good for the starter to run when the engine is running,for the time being I would just use the rope starter.
