My 07 Foreman will start in gear if I hold in the front brake.
I think that this is exactly what is happening. He mentioned that sometimes the dash doesn't show the gear he is in. I didn't pay any attention to the display when I was trying to start it in gear. Just figured that whatever interlock switch allowed it crank in gear would also let it fire up. Doesn't having to rock the bike to get it to start defeat the whole purpose of the start in gear feature?Make sure the dash reads D or R. Sometimes I am sure you all have seen a case when you are not running, you select D and the dash displays -- Even though the shifter is in D, it will crank all day and not start. Rock the bike a bit until the gear you selected appears on the screen and it will fire right up. This happened to me a few times until I noticed what was going on. Hope this helps.
