You'll have to use 1 1/2 at the airbox so it's just as well to use 1 1/2. I stepped up to 2" for the front riser to make sure I got enough air and also I liked the look of the bigger pipe. The rad hose gives a clean look and makes it easy to move aside for servicing.

With this setup you actually cut the stock snorkle so you can't remove it unless you get another stock one or use a different attachment to the airbox. Why would you want to remove it? I was going to make another short riser to install in the rack bracket but might not because I like the way the bike looks with the longer one.
The rad hose should handle the heat better than plastic pipe or flex hose. I'm sure Dirty4man would have mentioned if he had any problems with heat. Then again we've seen how he babies his bike and doesn't like to get it dirty.

Ty wrapped my hose to the frame also.
Got a question on extending vents. Don't have a light pod. First idea was to drill and tap snorkle pipe close to the shock and insert barb fittings for vent lines. Read that I shouldn't run carb vents to snorkle because of the vacum so I guess they would run to the bars.
Second thought was to run a second , smaller snorkle 1 1/4" maybe, next to the intake snorkle. It would run basically from just below the plastic to the same height as first snorkle. I could run all vents to this. Doubt that I would ever go deep enough to actually need the vents this high but I thought the dual snorkles would look good and be a clean install. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks for the replies guys. wvforeman I see your point about wanting to make it removable. I made my exhaust snorkle like that cause I figured it would be in the way most of the time. For the intake you could just make the short riser to use on the trails.
