No I dont work for them, but I will give my input on a good product when I find one. As for being totally sealed Yes mine is, for the airbox lid put some marine grease in the grove of the cover. For going into the airbox, silicone. If you want to make your own then use some flexible pool hose, then it will be one continuous piece of pipe from the airbox to wherever you decide to run it to. I went with the snorkit for many different reasons , one of them being that it is a tried and true product with no guess work. I could have built my own but as said b-4 too many stories of people needing to redo them for one reason or another. If you think you can do as good or better job than them then go for it.

just be be clear^^i am not trying to disrespect you or anytihng with that previous post or anything...and why should i just use 1 big length of pool hose only?...i know how pvc pipe works..and i know how to seal it as well, and still be able to take it apart too...ive gathered plenty of info here and else where, and with using my own ideas, robb's, and some others..my setup will work, today i extended and moved all vent lines, changed my snorkel design to have a low spot like a sink trap, and i think i am also going to incorporate a valve in the low spot to drain it should the unthinkable happen...running total on parts and materials thus far is 36 bucks.

the drain plug in the lowest point is an exellent idea, if water does get in you want to be able to get it out. Have you extended the carb vent tube as well? That is one that many overlook when they do the vents. I suggested the one piece hose so that there was no guess work on the angles of the pvc joints etc. I have built in ground swimming pools in the past and have a good deal of knowledege in hard and flex line, and sometimes its just easier with flex than hard pipe, that was the only reason I said use flex. It sounds as if you to are quite knowledeable with pvc as well.

the triangle kit has that drain valve, correct?..at least i think that is what gave that idea...but anyways the snorkel is coming along and once it is fully built i am going to pressure test it with air and use soapy water to make sure there arent any leaks...so you built pools? i should fly you up here and have you make me one..lol...the whole knowing about plumbing is from my day job, i buy and then restore old homes...well talk to yall later

also i like the marine grease idea for sealing the lid too...i was going to fab up some sort of gasket-deal but i think that is an easier just as effective idea...thanks.

Yes the triangle kit has the drain petcock. We used to use vaseline on the pool filter pumps to seal the covers of the pump, it needed to be air tight so that it could create a suction to get the water flowing thru the filter. I like the idea of pressure testing your set up. Your job sound interesting... bet you find lots of "treasure" when you open the walls etc.

I wish mine worked that way, mine worked like a shop vac when it was upside down! And it did more then just milk the oil, not fun stuff.

I agree all bets are off when your upside down. The best thing you can do when you "swamp it" is to pull it out drian the airbox and carb. Maybe even stand it on end to drain the exhaust. Before you try to start it. A lot of people try to start their bike while pipe is underwater and end up hydro-locking the motor then they have to go through the hassle of pulling the plug and blowing that water out.

Hey Robb, just wanted to thank you for all the detailed info. That had to take some time. Great job!
Found something else you deep sea divers may want to add to keep the snorkles upright.

I was looking over my Foreman today to get an idea of what all I may need to look into re-routing or which vents to lengthen. I looked at the rear diff. vent tube, rear brake vent tube, front diff, and both front brake vent tubes. Where do these things end at? From the looks of it, they are somewhere up under the handlebars, but I can't find the ends. As far as I can tell, all of the vents already end higher up than the intake snorkle. Could ya help me out here?

The end in the frame near the stearing stem. Get some "T"s to tie the the rear diff and break together. then you can tie the front diff, and breaks together then you only have to route a couple llines to the handle bars. Just don't "T" the carb vent, run tham to the handle bars by themselves. They need to vent to the atmosphere.

They plug into the frame under the headlight pod. They can all be run together to just one vent, all except the carb vent, which I also recommend extending. Definately do the crank case re-route also, and dont forget about your fan, that has a vent too. All together there are 7 vents plus the crank case, also carry a screw or golf tee with you to stick in your carb overflow tube. They do end about the same height if not alittle higher than the factory snorkle.

Thanks guys. I don't think I'm gonna mess with that stuff yet. I'm not planning on taking it deeper than the stocker snorkle anyways for quite a while (or until I can find water that deep around here! ). It's a shame. I live about 5 road miles away from the Flint River. All dirtroads to get there mind you, and it's a WMA blocked off to ATV use. It didn't used to be, but they closed it around '99 because of a lot of problems. Sucks....
