Skid plates?

I'm planning to buy a new Foreman 500 in the near future, and wanted to know if most of you buy aftermarket skid plates for yours or not? I used to put them on all of my sport machines right away, but is it needed on a ute? Thanks!

I have an '04 Foreman and stayed with the stock skid plates but I am looking at getting the Hook Holster from AP.
they come with plastic skid plates but I guess it depends on where and what type of riding you do. I would definetly get some after market cv boot guards though
I have the AP skid plate and bash palte They look good and reaplce the (IMO) flimsy plastic ones, ecspecially the nose piece. I need to get the boot guards, thats next.
I got the AP boot guards and bash plate also. I destroyed my stock bumper brackets trying to take down a tree so i had to weld mine on.
I want to get the AP skids for my 500. Do you have any pictures truegrit?

I need a winch also, so I was thinking about just getting there entire package with a winch and all there skids.
What do you think?
there is a place you can get it cheaper. not exactly the same but close. it is www.utahsportcycle.com the boot guards look like they guard the front and back.
I do not have pics of mine yet, but this is what it looks like. (I do not have the stick guards)

I bought the Bash plate, Skid plate and winch mount as a set (should have got the one w/ the stick guards too) and bought the Winch elseware. It it quality made and bolted on in about 20 minutes. I am very happy with them and wish I would have bought them earlier.

Did you save money by getting the winch somewhere else?

I have been looking at the Warn 3.0 and they have a kit that comes with every skid/guard they make, the mount and the winch for $730 I think it is.
I just dont know how to break it down. If I would save by getting everything there but the winch etc..
I called about these and they told me they would fit on a 05 foreman but I'm not 100% positive http://www.hondapartsworld.com/index.asp?P...PROD&ProdID=439

got the full set of AP skids from

<a href="http://www.onlyatv.com/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.onlyatv.com/index.html</a>

as i recall, the full set with a warn 2.5 winch was about $600. the sierra nevada mountains tore up the cheap plastic plates right away.

Rollin Big those are for the 05's. I ordered all my stuff from them and they sent me the wrong gear which was that. They sent me the 05 stuff and i have an 03.
I highly recmommend the boot guards, I have the Oxlite in black but most brands are generally pretty good.

My kit was around $270 (Winch plate skid and bash) I got the 3,000lb Mile Marker winch for $200. So I came out ahead of their complete kit. I really didn't care to have a Warn winch any way. I am sure you can find the Warn cheaper than it is in the kit.

Just taking a quick look, I see the Warn 3.0 is around $425.

truegrit

There complete skid package that comes with the mounting plate but no winch is 340.00

The same kit but with the warn 3.0 is 730.00

730

340

390

I would have to beat 390 by some bit probably to not get stuck on double shipping. Im not sure I can find one for under that.

And why did you not like that winch?

this is the mount that camen with the kit. i like the fact that it does not sit out front exposed to everything but in really deep mud i could see it as a problem.

I like how yours is mounted, the kit I got for my Venom mounts in front of where yours is mounted. I had some problems with the front clamp mount bolts, I had to ream the holes out bigger in the mount plate. I will try to get some pics of it.
stick guards are great but a lot of mud and gunk stay at the bottom and a pain to clean out. When I get enough cash I will definetely get the SPHH from AP, they look tough.
i run the moose full skid plate, and the moose swing arm skid and i really like it. i have hits some stumps and climbed over trees with no problems.
