1st Remove Alt Cover (rear of engine) Look for loose gear shift A-arm bolt. If nothing evident there then
2nd Remove Front cover and Clutch Assy. Check Shift linkage for loose bolts or damaged linkage. If nothing found, then Transmission will have to be disassembled.
Note: the ES transmission has some differences in linkage, and gears from the S transmission. It is not really designed to be shifted manually except to get you home in a pinch.
First Check the clutch adjustment just to be sure it is not something that simple that has been overlooked.
