Rubicon and Rancher AT = same type tranny?

Both descriptions of the transmission say

Fully automatic hydromechanical, continuously variable, with electronic controls

Are they generally the same trannsmission, just hooked up to different motors?

I have rode a Suzuki Eiger that has a V-Bet CVT automatic transmission that I really would have a hard time getting used to. The Suzuki seems like it winds real high when it starts out, kinda like a go-cart would. Is the Rubicon or Rancher AT's tranny like this? Or do they both feel different from each other or the Suzuki?

no. They are the same type, but different sizes. and it is totally different than suzuki. You will like it. B/c it isn't belt driven, it will do really well. You will like.
The Rubicon & TRX400FA/FG use a hydrostatic type transmission .. Very smooth shifting transmission ..
Got a question. My neighbor has a Rancher AT. He was trying to pull a load up his driveway but it wouldn't handle it. The wheels would not spin. Does the Rubicon do the same if it has too much of a load? I know that my 450 will either move or spin the tires.
the rubicon and 400at have the same tranny but the rubicon has a low gear, the 400 does not. is it possible the load exceeded the recommended weight limit? is the driveway steep? this is the first time ive heard of this problem so i'm curious.
Oh yeah! He exceeded the weight limit alright. Dodge Dakota
We've did the recall on dozens & dozens of TRX400FA/FG's ..And Honda is still covering them under "good will warranty" ..
