30 second mod.
Simply loosen the lock nut on the reverse cable (small cable on left side of handlebar) and tighen the adjuster until it will select reverse without pushing the red button and/or touching the brake lever. Then tighten the lock nut.
You can sit there in neutral(switch on) and keep pushing the shift down button as you tighten the cable, once it goes in to reverse you have it tight enough. You can give it another half turn to be sure of repeated action, but don't go any further as it will simply stretch the cable.
