Rear wheel bearings?

How hard is it to change rear wheel bearings?

Am i going to need a special tool or something?

I think it is the bearing because it makes a weird noise (sometimes)
and the wheel is slightly loose but the bolts are tight.

sometimes the bearings can be a pain, if it is u can pull the axle tube off, just unbolt it from the diff.(4 bolts) and unbolt the shock(1 bolt). and drive the bearing out. A slide hammer with a hook on the end will make the job ahole lot easier.
I will be the one helpin' him do this. I have never changed out bearings,
but it doesn't sound too terribly hard to do. Do you think it will take all
day or just a few hours?
the left side under an hour, the right side will take alittle longer due to the brakes.
Thanks for the warning Terry.
A friend of mine and myself did a 450 and it took about 4 hours.
Two hours of that was beer breaks.
It's not that bad.
Be sure to put greese on the rubber seal on the break drum when you go back together with it. That helps keep the water out and extends the life of the seal.

Thanks Randy. It will probably take about two hours since we don't drink
that much .
There's a couple of special tools you need to change the pinion bearings ...
yes the pinion bearings in the diff. does require a special socket, but I dont think they are going that far in, just replacing the outer wheel bearings.
rear wheel bearings

thanks for all the info, i'll give it a shot
have you checked your hub nut? this happined to me once, the pin rusted and came out and the nut came loose. just something to check. now for the bearing, this shouldnt take more than 2hrs for you to do this. it takes me about a hour because i know what im doing. it isnt hard at all and you shouldnt have any problems at all.
also suck-a-lot check your email i sent you some info on the supertrapp.
