has anyone been sucessful conecting a cd player with speakers to an atv/rincon? also have you tried a hand held vhf as opposed to the little hand held cobras with 6-8 mile range? would it be worth the money and i use the radio in the mountains not flat land.

Any obstruction in view will limit the range of a VHF. I have a 3' antena on my T-Top on the boat and when the water is calm and I'm not trying to talk to someone on the other side of an island or other obstruction with trees, I'll work up to 20 miles or so. Just google VHF, you'll find tons of info.
