IF YOU CAN GET IT UP IN THE AIR IT'S EASIER. COME OUT THE BOTTOM BETWEEN YOUR SWING ARM AND YOUR SKID PLATE. DROP IT STRAIGHT DOWN. YOU'LL NEED A LONG EXTENSION FOR A SOCKET TO MAKE IT EASY. DON'T FORGET TO SEAL THE LITTLE PEEP HOLE ON THE BOTTOM. IT'S NOT ON THE RECOIL ITSELF IT'S A NOTCH ON THE ACTUAL MOTOR. ALSO SEAL YOUR PULL ROPE BY PULLING OUT THE ROPE A LITTLE AND PUTTING RTV IN THE HOLE AND LET YOUR ROPE BACK IN. AND LAST SEAL THE TOP OF THE PULL ROPE HANDLE WHERE YOU SEE THE ROPE TIED IN A KNOT.
WHEN I DID MINE I DIDN'T SEAL THE PEEP HOLE ON THE BOTTOM OR THE HANDLE AND IT FILLED WITH MUD AND WATER AND ATE OUT THE RECOIL SEAL. I RECENTLY SOLVED THIS PROBLEM WITH A SEAL PLATE.
GOOD LUCK..... not hard to do
