I usually run 3 psi in mine.

Me too.....3 psi.

The Dealership and your manual will tell you 4psi max. I try to run around 3psi, but if the weather changes as much as it does here in Oklahoma, you will want to check it each time before you ride.

What is the down fall to alot of air. On certian rides, I will blow them up alot... Is there some type of damage that it would do?

I like 3 psi because I think it rides better and I think a lot of air will wear out the center of the tread quickly.At 3 psi my Dirt Devils seem to ride across the width of the tire.

more air isnt gona be too muhc of a problem if you want good turning air them up high but a bit lower will suposdily imprive traction

shoot I run 10psi in mine, i have run as much as 20psi in my zilla's to help stretch them out. With the hard clay ruts here, if you run any lower than 10 pounds, you are taking a chance of knocking the tires off the rims. I would rather a rougher ride than to try to fix a tire full of mud on the trail.

I run 4. I have ran them with 10 (stockers) and it was a rough ride. I want to air them (gators) up and go muding and see if it helps out. Do you guys think it will?

I guess it has a lot to do with the type of riding conditions and your location.I would never go below 3 psi.

You will lose alot of your puncture resistance if you go too high. You want the stob or sharp rock to be able to push in on the tire a little bit. If the tire does not give any, it is more likely to get stabbed or tear.

Big_Daddy, Having more air in your tires will actually let you have less grip... Less air more the tire will act as a tread, and crawl/climb over things. That is why people get bead locks, so they can run really low PSI and not push the tire off the rim.

Absolutely correct. My bro's running 25" mudlights on the back of his 2wd quad and we had less than 2 hrs riding time when he punctured a hole 1/2" around. This was definitly due to over-inflation.
It's a trade off - the trails in my area are rutted real bad - you need the clearance in certain situations, as well as the extra top-speed for some road riding. But, for regular mud & trail riding, a nice soft tire will give you a more comfortable ride and more peace-of-mind, i.e punctures.
