I have a 2001 honda foreman and I know my fan works i hooked up cables to it and it works but I bought a fan box thinking that was the problem but I ran my atv for about 30 minutes and it never kicked on it got pretty hot but It could be the oil temp sensor? Not sure how to test it without draining oil

I guess you pull the lead to the oil temp sensor and with the key on, ground it. If the fan kicks on the sensor is faulty. I haven't tried it yet on mine due to my work schedule. Bit my fans don't come on either. I replaced the oil temp sensor and the fan relay box with no improvement.

Many folks have a manual override on the fan. You can do this 'hot' off the battery or through the ignition.
Don't trust the sensor. You can flip the fan on before the oil gets as thin as gasoline, use it to cool down your machine after hot usage, etc.
Have done this on both my '99 Foreman 450's . . . . . foolproof.
