Can anybody tell me something about this Plasma rope.
What is it made of?
Is it durable?
How strong is it?
I'm interested because i always have to change my winch cable(at least once a year)
Where can i get one cheap?
how much does it cost?

Thanks guys

Why go around it, When you can go through it

Both in the Rincon and the Foreman section under winch questions, it explains the rope...No stretch and recoil and snap back if the cable breaks.. And easier on the hands..no metal splinters. Alot of riders on here have them and absolutely love them... I am going to get them as soon as I can... and my winch is 2 months old and never used it.. Brand new cable going on the wall as a spare..
I have it and love it. Has ALL the benefits that rincon650 said, PLUS it floats, easier to throw, lighter, can tie it back together IF it does break. It is just a specialy woven rope that is made of a synthetic fiber. Ive had it under water, mud, sand etc with 0 problems. The ONLY thing I suggest is the alum hawse failead they offer for $50? As the factory can and will snag the rope if caught on a ruff edge. I caught mine in the corner of my roller lead and didnt notice till I heard the snap and saw the rope just drop str8 down. Simply tied the two halves back together and pulled myself out and enjoyed the rest of my day. Do that with a cable. As for the cable you remove to put the rope on... put it in your trunk for a 50ft extension, just put a loop at the other end. I gort mine at www.okoffroad.com for $54??? shipped, with 5ft of rock/abbrasion guard. I will NEVER use cable again. UNLESS YOU PLOW... ask why if you do use a plow.
No Foreman Lover ,I don't plow yet. But why??
Thanks guys you made up my mind I'm going to order one.Hope it will be here by the beginning of the hunting season. Just to try it out. Is Am Steel the strongest one out there (5400lb) compared to the other brands (4000 to 5000lb).
I believe that you would want to use cable for plowing because of the constant weight... From what I have heard. I am sure that there are other reasons...
Is the synthetic the same diameter as cable? I was thinkin maybe i could fit even more on the spool!
yes its the same size, 3/16" x 50' is all your going to get on the winch spool
Dirty4man I just got my plasma rope but the is no end on it (only the eye loop) can i just put it under the screw or do i have to put an end on it. Will it bop off or am i ok.
Steve
I dont see why you can't crimp on an electrical eyelet on the end. thats all they do. I had to cut mine off because my warn winch has a wedge type lock. for some reason if your unspool it all the way out, the eyelet will help keep it from comming all the way off the spool.

yes...this is true, I was in a "little" hole at Mud Nationals that was to big for me britches and a King Quad 700 snapped this cable trying to pull me out and it just fell as if i had unhooked it...I was standing right next to it so if it were a regular wire cable I would have probably had to make a trip to the hospital....or at least break out the old sewin kit ...but let me tell you I WAS STUCK.....**** I need more ground clearance
Thanks
