PERFEX or not to PERFEX that is the question

Hello I've done quite a bit of serching on this and other forum's to try and find the best lift for my application. What I have is a Foreman 500, 27" Bighorns and one of those honkin BIG rear seats. The tires rubed on the front of the rear fenders when I put them on. Now with the seat up their and another 100-150 lbs of pasenger over the rear wheels I'm close to rubbing on the top of the fender. I have instaled HL springs and that helped alot but I still want some more clearance in the back. I realy like what I am hearing about the perfex long travel kit but, I am afraid that with the aditonal weight I would just end up canceling out my HL springs and be right back where I started from. The HL lifts that I've seen just didn't seem like there was enough there to justify the money for it. Prety sure i could build that myself and, that is exactly what I am considuring. Or a cross between the HL and Perfex. Any thoughts would be apreciated.

Thanks in advance Jerry.

the prefex long travel only gives like 1/2" inch lift but it gives a smoother ride
Perfex also makes a lift kit as well as the long travel kit. It gives a 1" lift and won't soften the ride of the HL springs. It's also cheaper than the LT kit and looks slight but holds up well to hard riding. I run the perfex lift with the HL springs and I have a lot of extra weight on the bike. It works great. Huge ride improvement and great increase in clearance for the tires.
I'm going with the HL springs to go with my Prefex LT kit, I have the springs I just don't have them on the quad yet.

H4, where did you buy the perfex lift from? Also if ya got any pics of it on the wheeler I would like to see it. Your set-up looks alot like mine.
Got the kit from my local Honda dealer but just about any place should be able to order one. Pics aren't real good but you can see the kit.
Different machine. Perfex only offers one for our 500's - Long travel. I did not like the rear lift: rear really lifted while under acceleration and sat at an uncomfortable angle. But if you're looking for a lift than I would go with Perfex. I have the rear long travel if you want it, $10. plus shipping and it's yours.

I do have the front Perfex with HL springs and love it.
Eric I put my hl springs on tonight and put the rear Prefex kit back on the softest ride and it don't rise up like that anymore, so far anyway.
Really..............I will have to look into that. Hopefully I can buy JRICH's springs; give lift another shot
OK, I have decided to order the Perfex long travel kit. I think it will do what I want it to. If not I've already thought of a way to modify it to hopefuly achive my desired outcome. Wont know for sure though till i get it and see how it is realy made. will let you know what I come up with. Thanks to all who replied to this post.
I'm going on my first ride with my HL springs and my Prefex is on the softest ride and I will post reports tomorrow night.
Sounds good big daddy. I will be interested to hear your results. Also do you cary any extra weight on your rear rack? Some times I have up to nearly 200lbs. That is what I'm trying to compinsate for. Thanks in advance for the report.
They worked great! I don't carry extra weight on my racks but I'm a big guy that's why I wanted the HL springs. I have no complaints at all!
Got the Perfex kit in BUT, they sent the one for a 450. now I gota hasel with sending it back . It seems like every thing I buy online hear lately has to be shiped back for one reason or another.
its the same for the 02+450, 05+ rubicons, and 500 foremans.
get wrenchin'!
If it is the same the quality controll sucks. It dont even act like it wants to fit my bike. It is too wide to fit the shock mounts in the rear and doesnt sit rite across the swing arm. I would be sadly disapointed in the product if this is what they say "fits" my bike. I'll just have to take my money back and fab somethin myself. The money I spent on this would look beter back in my checking acount anyway. lol
Talked to the guy at Honda Parts and he said that they did send me the one for a 450 and that it would work on my bike but may be a little ocward. I did not pay for ocward. He said if I would send it back he would send me the one modle pacific for my bike. I agreed to this but, am not happy with them pawning off a diferent kit on me that would "work". I will let you all know how this comes out and if the new one seems to line up beter than the other.
The box mine came in said it was for the 450 and they sent me a note saying it's the same thing, it fit and works fine, please don't take this the wrong way but are you putting it on right? When I put my back on it went on like butter!! I'm wondering if your tring to get both tabs on the far back where the shock was at stock, one tab goes on the inside and one on the outside. I even made spaces for mine, my kit only came with one set of spacers. I had a hard time with the front but once I got it figured out it was butter too. I hope this helps!
