Oil Temp Light

Hey I ran into a "oil light problem the other day". We were out on a ride with the family and it was about 28deg C out, that's 82deg Farenheight for you southerners. Anyway I try and take pretty good care of the bikes so I checked Rad, and the fluid was up, where it should be, so I was stumped right! I knew I was about 100km from my scheduled oil change, and the oil was getting a bit dark so I dropped the skid plate and changed the oil. It was darker than the last time I changed it, all "3 liters" I was about to start adding oil, when my buddy Jim asks me why I wasn't draining all the oil! I don't know what the heck I was thinking, but I undid the second drain plug, and dropped the other 2.8L out. Maybe you just need to change to oil?

Oil Light!!!

The other Rubicon in out Group as it turns out was having the oil light come on as well, and Jim being a much better mechanic than I am had good clean oil, all 5.8L, and his Radiator fluid was good as well. Turns out that with so many people out riding that weekend, we didn't get to do our cerimonial dash accrss the creek, trying to splash each other. Long story made short, check for mud behind your radiator cover, his looked really clean after we pressure washed it, but with all the mud we were going through he had to remove the mud delector from the one side and found out his fan was covered in mud on teh back side of teh Radiator. So teh fan wouldn't suck air through the Rad to cool teh fluid.

Good luck!
