If you have your owners manual it has a step by step guide in it......From what i have heard as long as you dont have water in your oil you dont "have" to change the filter but i always change it when i change the oil.......
1) pull the plug on the bottom of bike and let drain
2) after empty put bolt back in
3) pull the cover off of the motor that hides the filter (Be very careful when you take off the 8mm bolt on this) those bolts are very fragile dont do it by air use your hand.
4) Take your old filter out
5) inspect your rubber ring around the back of the cover......replace if you need it....it should come with the new filter.
6) put new filter in and put the cover back on. (carefull with 8mm bolts dont need to put brute force behind it just snug it up)
7) fill up with 3.2 quarts of oil
start up let idle for 2 or 3 min. then check the oil and you should be good if not add or take out what you need
It seem like alot to do when you put it into words but its not that bad
