If you have your owners manual it has a step by step guide in it......From what i have heard as long as you dont have water in your oil you dont "have" to change the filter but i always change it when i change the oil.......

1) pull the plug on the bottom of bike and let drain
2) after empty put bolt back in
3) pull the cover off of the motor that hides the filter (Be very careful when you take off the 8mm bolt on this) those bolts are very fragile dont do it by air use your hand.
4) Take your old filter out
5) inspect your rubber ring around the back of the cover......replace if you need it....it should come with the new filter.
6) put new filter in and put the cover back on. (carefull with 8mm bolts dont need to put brute force behind it just snug it up)
7) fill up with 3.2 quarts of oil
start up let idle for 2 or 3 min. then check the oil and you should be good if not add or take out what you need

It seem like alot to do when you put it into words but its not that bad

look under the bike in the middle of the skid plate and you'll see hole cut out. look up in the hole about an inch and you'll see a hex head bolt (plug), i think it's a 17mm but not for sure. leftty loosy righty tighty.
unscrew plug with bucket/oil pan under bike and unscrew plug. be sure not to drog plug in oil. let oil drain then look on the right side of bike and you'll see about a 2-3 inch round cap with three hex screws in it. i think 8mm or 5/16". this is where the oil filter is. when you take filter out don't let the spring behind it fall out. replace oil filter, put plug back drain plug back in and start put oil in. the oil goes in on the left side of bike unscrew dip stick and start filling. funnel helps. you should put about 2 1/3 quarts of oil in. i use 10w 40 honda 4 stroke oil, but you can use other brands. after filling with oil place dip stick back in and pull out with out screwing it in to check it. if oil line is around the line then good to go. about $16 and 15minutes.

After the first oil change, do you change it every 500 miles?
No, I change it about every 3 or 4 rides just because........ no reason for it ........every 500 should be fine
dirtyrider: 3.2 quarts of oil? the manual says 2.5 quarts? thats how much i put in mine last time i changed my oil and it was good. im confused on how much oil
2.5 is correct
I change my oil and filter within 20hrs of use. I would think 500mi would be a stretch for an oil change even on trail riding, but thats just me.
oooops sorry yeah 2.5
I just got my Honda Saturday and the owner's manual says to use 2.5 quarts of oil. Change it the first 100miles/20hours and every 600miles/100hours after that.

What kind of oil is everyone using? Honda oil or regular name brands?

After I baptized my foreman I changed the oil 4 times and used cheap Wal-Mart oil, but for the last change and filter change I used Valvoline 10W-40 4 stroke atv oil.
I got a question for everyone that changes their own oil...How is everyone getting the oil change light to go off. I have 80 miles on mine right now so the oil change light hasnt come on but my buddy has a Foreman same as mine and he said he cant get the light to go off.
hold both the odo and clock button when you turn on the key and then release them it will reset it.

You put the side with the metal on the outside. It also has "OUTSIDE" written on the oil filter to help you out.
