I have original tires and rims on my 450 formen es. I ride in the mountains and lots of rocks, bolders, water and then mud. Lots of friend that I ride with have upgraded their rides to 27 inch tires (ITP's)
1. they are mud tire and do not do well on rock vs my original.
2. climbing hills, I've have had less problem due to lower center of gravity, I do not have the problems on some obsticals that they do.

I guess my question is should I go up a size or two sizes? What would the bennefit besides ground clearance?
I know the ITP mud tires are not right for the type of riding we do, what type do you recommend esp for the rock or rocky riding we do?

Thanks

Thanks for the response. The Horns are what I've been looking at. Northwoodsdon, If I understand you right you used your OEM rims with no issues or the use of other upgrades to your ride?

I just received an email from Maxxis and this is their response for the Horn.

I don't believe you would need a bigger rim when going to a 26" tire, but I would still recommend the 25" on your 450. The 25" Bighorn should actually be taller than your stock 25" so you'd be gaining a bit of clearance without the added weight of the 26" tire.

Thank you for contacting Maxxis.
Thank you!
