Hello from the newest member, from Oregon.

Tomorrow I’m ordering from my local dealer a 2020 Fourtrax Foreman Rubicon 4X4 Automatic DCT EPS Deluxe

TRX520FA7L
Honda Phantom Camo®

My question is:

how many of the following Honda Accessories would I be foolish in ordering and having the dealer install?

Auxiliary Recoil Starter
Accessory Sub Harness
Heated Grips
Winch Mount Kit
Winch
A-Arm Guards (Front)
A-Arm Guards (Rear)
Rear Bumper
Frame Skid Plate
Frame Skid Plate (Rear)
Outdoor Storage Cover

This will be my first ATV. Thanks for any sage advise.

I have a honda 400 foreman new since 1999, in all the yrs I have NEVER ever needed a pull start even once!
but guess its nice to have just in case LOL
NOW< a suggestion,
DON"T Buy an atv cover, BUY a cheaper shed and park atv in that(best to park atv in it when its dry and not soaking wet)
and seal shed up as tight as you can to keep mice out! use good vents and screen them with small HD mesh

Parking an atv under a cover traps moisture and makes for a place critters want to live
which highly increases the odds of them chewing on wires
and I also didn;t see on your list a adding insurance, , I would HIGHLY suggest having insurance on the atv too!
NEXT thing I would BUY from my dealer, would be a HARD copy service manual!
yes free downloads are out there(or soon will be on 2020's)
but to me nothing beats having a hard paper copy in my hands, and then I can use it as a log book, to track all services and PM"s I do to it!
to me there worth the costs to OWN one!

Other options I would want would be adding some back up LED lights, some folks wire them so they come on when in reverse, but I like to have them on a switch,a s many times its nice to be able to turn on without having to put atv in reverse!

NOW< not sure your skill set
or what your dealer is charging you or not
but most things on your list are NOT very hard to install yourself, and could save you a lot of Labor costs from a dealer
SO< food for thought on that!


a good fast change receiver hitch set up is nice too if you ever tow anything! or want a solid recovery point to hook to!

67yo, USED TO BEND WRENCHES ON MY M/C’s BUT TOO LAZY THESE DAYS. I’M WONDERING IF HONDA VS AFTERMARKET A-ARM COVERS AND SKID PLATES ARE WORTH GETTING? DO YOU HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT THAT REAR BUMPER?

a good bumper is nice, but I have never need anything but the OEM guards, I don;t go off road hard core with my atv, its a tool used about property and farms, and trail rides now and then, my days of extremes are behind me

as for aftermarket or HONDA skid plate,
I would think there are better aftermarket skid plates/a arms guards, due to some other folks really go hard on things , beyond what honda would want one do do, or make for!
there are many folks here with more experience using the aftermarket plates
but again, most of these things are rather easy to install, most all are simple bolt on, so paying a dealer to install some things, for those any how with smaller wallets, is a lot of wasted money, as most dealers are NOT cheap on labor,costs!
However, if your buying all items off dealer, MANY times you can get them to install them free, or cheap, due to your dropping a bunch of cash on a new atv and add on's!
IMO< a good dealer would install them for free, due to the full purchase off them and wanting to make you a happy customer!

and none of the things you listed are a BIG deal to install!

towing, again, tons of good aftermarket bolt on hitches, just remember atv's can sure PULL more weight than they can stop!
so be safe when towing!

also, many folks like to UPGRADE to better than stock tires(the craze is go BIGGER), I am not a guy that runs big tires, but I do think, pending what tires come on the atv new, there are better options,
MANY of the new atv's come with lower end tires of low ply, and designs
and are more prone to flats, so a good tire repair kit is nice to have on hand as is a small air compressor, be it a 12 volt cig plug and go, or a foot pump

as for tires again, some times you can get a dealer to UPGRADE the tires at time of buying too, so keep this in mind
2-4 ply tries are way more prone to flats, but ride smoother, and why many NEW atv's have them, plus there cheaper than better tires!
of say 6-8 ply! of a better brand name, however some atv's do come today with decent tires, have to look and see what your getting!

OH and the cover, is honestly NOT needed period, will maybe do more harm than good trapping again, moisture under it , even at camp sites and again attract critters
atv's are pretty tuff and parking outside at camp sites and such is NOT a big deal
if you feel a need, carry a cheap tarp and cover that way
a custom fit one will be a pain in the but to keep folding up and putting on, it will grow wold FAST and not needed IMO!
save your money and skip this !

Thanks again...I always value sage advice and am not embarrassed to admit I’m a newbie, this being my 1st ATV.

Today I visited my local dealer and ordered the 2020 Rubicon Deluxe Camo with a-arm covers, skid plates and a Warn 25S winch. The other stuff I’ll add as necessary later as I find a need exists. Hoping it arrives prior to deer hunting season!
