New Honda Owner with top end question?

1st Quad and !st Honda. Have always rode Harleys and needed a family machine.
I have a new 05 trx500fe. with about 200kms on it.
as i get over 80 km there is a sound like pinging or valve noise.
not just the normal ticking they all have.
i have only tried this once. most of my time is spent riding around with my daughter
valves have not been adjusted
Thanks for any input.
is this normal? or is it valve float?
any input will be appreciated.

how many miles are on the machine?

i'm going to reply to myself and ask acouple more Questions
any problems with not putting wire loom on winch cables?
dealer seems to do this on all bikes but mine.
how fast does your stock 500 go?

By wire loom you mean the stuff to wrap aroung electrical wires to keep them from chafing? NO biggy either way. Most do not have it. I probably would just astetics (sp).

Never tried top end on mine. Most I've had it to is 43. I have heard around 55 is all it has.

I did 50 mph one time on my 450 with stock tires, so i know
the 500 has got to do at least that.

I've had 50 and it had alot more throttle

Before all the mods I did to mine it did 58 mph.

my friends stok 500 s did 60 mph on morganza highway, that thing was haulin ace

I got 56 MPH out of mine stock with my big A$$ on it.

I heard that is about the maximum of 56mph.

I am too skeerd to try. Our trails are not long enough or straight enough. And I here your body hitting the asphault at 10 mph hurts so I can imagine how well it feels at 50.

is it supposed to sound like the pushroods are going to fly out at top speed? engine seems noisey at upper rpms.
top speed so far 53.

i had mine up to 59 with me and my girl on there and still had a bit of thumb left

Just try adjusting the valves to .005 and see what happens. Theres a how-to on how to do it.

I got mine up to 57 mph with the stock tires, when I put the 589's on it the top speed only dropped to 56 mph. No biggie to me, I rarely get it up that far unless I'm in the mood for being a speed demon.

I have an 05 Foreman 500s 4x4 and i have hit 56mph once with 26'' Mudlites on it. Plenty fast enough for me. I have adjusted my valves 3 times since i have owned it and it seems like after about 10 hours or so they start tapping again.
