Worst case scenario is that the c.v. joint is shot and you have to replace the whole axle.I doubt you need to do that.I'd clean the outer joint really good,pack it with grease and replace the c.v. boot.It's pretty easy to do.
My boots loose
I noticed the front left boot has come loose behind the rotor. What is the worst case senario, and what all will I need to fix it?

I sometimes hear a clicking while turning on either side in 2 wheel drive. Is this any indication of possible CV joints? I hate to have to take it to the dealer for anything.
It is possible,but usually you would hear the clicking from the c.v.'s in 4 wheel drive.
I also hear it in 4wd. What's the chances of this being covered by an extended warranty?
