Green Ridge State Park in Cumberland.
MD

That same $15 sticker will get you into the pocomoke state forest as well. Been to cumberland but if you are into mud and a little bit more challenging riding you need to check out Pocomoke. I live about 30 mins from there, it is just outside Ocean City, MD
Sounds cool, but man that's a long way to ride for only 6 miles of trails.

im from maryland in the kingsville area. i usually ride just on my property but i plan on going to greenridge. but im getting a bad vibe from everyone saying its boring.
If you can make it to western MD there is more than greenridge (boring) to ride. There is a private owned area near kitsmiller they have lots of trails and lots of mud. be there a few times and have a blast everytime I go.
Yes Kitzmiller, Md is a great place to ride. Hundreds of acres hunt club land, anything goes, ride the trails, amke your own, etc. Hill climbs, mud, cross country trails somewhat of a motocross track, mud, great access to the Potomac river, hills, mud, did I say mud? Like I say anything goes and for $10 day or $100. a year it's worth the drive. Not sure but they may let you camp there, just find a big tree to hide behind if you gotta go. Oakland and Deep Creek lake has lodging.

Can you or anyone else give me more info about this place?my dad lives in cumberland and we need better places to ride up there besides greenridge.
Take rt135 west out of Westernport, on top of Backbone Mt turn left on 38, at bottom of hill turn right on west main st. follow this rd, it turns into Shallmar Rd. Stay left, don't go right on north hill rd. Now for the hard part, you pay and pick up the entry gate key at a large house on the right, i don't know the exact address but every one near there will help you if you don't find it but it's a big house and easy to spot. Got to the back side of the house to pay, Pay and they give you the gate key, when you leave for the evening just drop the key off in their mail box. Once you get the key keep going west on shallmar to the end of the road, go through the gate and just a few hundred yards ahead you will see a big parking area on the left. Park and ride from there. Only bad side is they don't mark the trails so it's hit and miss on where you ride. once you get to know the area it's easy. from the parking lot almost everything requires going up hill so enjoy and hit the trails or make your own, they don't mind. Remember it's a hunt club so don't expect anything like Green Ridge, not many rules , etc. Compared to Green Ridge or even Popular Lick this place beets them all.

We were at Kitzmiller this past weekend- rode 18 1/2miles , hardly crossed the same trail twice, had a great time.. . The hill climbs & MX track are what our kid is looking for, & there are tons of trails!! $10.00 a day, or $100.00 per year, covers you, your spouse, & kids under 16yrs.
People have campers set up pretty much wherever you want, you can tell some have been there for years. We are definitley going back! Great people.. we hooked up with some folks who have been going there for 4-5 yrs, said "why not ride with us" & we did! They showed us places we would have never known about... can't say enough about the place, although there was one guy who said it was better than the "Hatfield McCoy" park, which we all know about..

Hey Novas66

:welcome to the Forum !
Is this place still available to ride in the fall, or does it close for hunting season?
all year, even through hunting season although knowing the people back there and the way they hunt I would feel a little uneasy riding. it should be a lot of fun in Jan when the snow start piling up. also the new year to buy an annual pass starts in Jan.
Just found out T- GIving weekend that if you pay the 100 a yr you can go during hunting season but they DO NOT SELL 10 a day permits during hunting season!!!!!!!

I live in the Kitzmiller/ Garrett County area and if you live quite a distance from Kitzmiller I WOULD NOT recommend driving here in January, Feb or March, and think you are gonna be able to ride. IT JUST ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. We had 265" of snow last year and trail riding was just not happening on a quad..
Thanks for the info on kitzmiller, i live in maryland and never heard of this place. I'll have to check it out, not many places around me. we usually go to pa.
