The 1998-01 are harder to test because they don't use flash codes .. ...I use a couple of homemade test tools , 1 replaces the angle sensor the other replaces the shift control motor ..
If you followed the ESP trouble shooting flowchart step by step and didn't find the problem then you'll have to do it again ..

When you tested the angle sensor did you use a digital meter or an analog meter .. The angle sensor should be tested with an analog meter when checking the sweep ...
I USED A DIGITAL METER. THE SERVICE MANUEL DID NOT TELL ABOUT THE "SWEEP" . VERY POSSIBLE ANGLE SENSOR COULD BE THE PROBLEM ?? MY METER READ 225.00 ONE WAY AND 4.256 THE OTHER WAY. I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THE ANGLE SENSOR WORKS. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
You PM'd me and said the aux. shifter jumps everytime you push the shift button..

There will be nothing wrong with the ESP if the bike is shifting gears .. What exactually does it do when you shift gears and give it throttle ..?. Are you saying the bike will only move in R, 1, 5 ..?..
YES, THE BIKE ONLY MOVES IN R, 1, 5.
IT GOES THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF SHIFTING INTO 2,3,4, BUT, NOTHING HAPPENS. IT STAYS IN 1 OR 5.
THE DISPLAY WILL SHOW R,N,1,&5. 2,3,4, POSITIONS IT ONLY SHOWS
A FLAT LINE.
On pre 2002 TRX450 bikes the gear position switch controls the display for R, N, 1, 5 .. The ECM controls the display for 2, 3, 4 and the engine MUST be running to display 2, 3, 4...

So if the bike will move in R, 1, 5 what does the bike do when you give it throttle in 2, 3, 4 ...?
STAY IN FIRTS UNTIL SHIFTED ENOUGH TIMES TO BE IN FIFTH GEAR
THEN, I WORKS FINE IN FIFTH.
If the shift drum is turning to get from 1st to 5th then there's something wrong if there's no gears in between ... Your going to have to take the clutch cover off and check the shift drum, shift drum stopper & gearshift linkage ..
THANKS, BEEN VERY BUSY PAST FEW DAYS. I'LL TRY AGAIN THIS WEEKEND. THANKS AGAIN.
