I filled the holes with a rubber sealant, i don't like the idea of not being able to pull start my atv if the battery goes dead on me. Personally, i think it's a waste of money but thats just my opinion.
I was wonderin' the same thing. I am always lookin' to upgrade
our Foreman's & was wonderin' if that product was worth the $$$.

I think Deadmullet has been hitting the keg a little to hard.........LOL. J/K, thats some pretty funnny stuff though!!
I pulled my recoil starter off and RTV'd it back on, in case I need it some day. If you do this make sure you fill the weep hole in the bottom of it, The hole where the handle fit in, and the top of the handle where the knot in the rope is.
OK most people seem to agree that we can tackle this problem on our own without the help of HL.

How well would a four wheeler run without a battery, if you had to pull start it. Just trying to determine if I should remove the recoil starter completely or just fill the holes with a rubber sealant.

I will be dishing out over $1000 next week because I didn't know how to properly take care of my 500 after swamping it (now I know, thanks to you guys). So I'm being real cautious with everything and learn all I can.
Nothing like learning the hard way...Railroader knows all about that
I understand exactly where your comin' from Dazedlok. I usually
end up learnin' things the hard way.
I have a buddy with the shield and it leaks I just put rtv in all the holes on the pull start and have never had a problem. In my opinion its a waste of money and time and it sucks not being able to pull start your bike and havine to be pulled back to the trailer.
Dazedlok & Railroader please elaborate. I just sunk mine this past weekend. Nothing real deep just up to the rear fenders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you get water in your engine? If you did, your oil will be a milky
color. If you did that you will need to get a new oil filter & enough
oil for about 9-10 oil changes. PM me if you need some more advice.
I just bought the leak shield. Because I am having a $600 topend rebuild due to mud and water getting into the pull starter recoil. I mean that the leak shield is about $60. I just don't want to go through it again the topend rebuild. But I know what you are all saying that you don't like the fact that you won't have a pull starter anymore.

My friend is going through the same thing but he is getting a topend rebuild at the dealer from where he bought it. Honda is charging him $875. I found a local place that said they could do it for $450 to $600. It is a link from the site I ride with www.davidsatvzone.com the place is called Cycle Pro Racing he is also a member of the site.
