i accidentally left my key on sat night and just found out this morning "mon" at 8am did it put 36 hours on my bike even if the key was left on?? or does the engine have to be running for the bike hour meter to be running.... im afraid i may have compromised the oil change settings for the indicator light to come on now so basically what i ned to know is does the hour meter run even if the key is left on and the bike is not running

if i recall correctly it does but get someone else to chime in also for more difenet
If the key is on, the hour meter is running . I left mine on for 40 hoursa week after I got it .. Make note in your maintenance log for your records .

Yep, I did same thing soon after I got mine and put about 60 hours on mine. I asked same question on this forum and was confirmed that it was supposed to do this. Hours and mileage just don't match or at leat at the time.
i've got about 150 extra hours on mine from the same thing. leaving it on for a friday thru monday a few times will run 'em right up.
how do you guys forget the key on?? do you not use it to shut the bike off and use the kill engine swtich on the handle bar???
I have never used the kill switch since I got mine two years ago. I see no need in having one. It kills just fine with the key switch. I left mine on from turning to on without engine running to use electrical plug or switch gears to move it by hand or other things. It happens.
My Rancher has 20 hours on it...brand new. Kids turned the key on all week till dead. Recharged it..yelled at them... they did it again. Now my Rancher has 316 hours on it. 8-|
