Where does the temp. sensor screw into the engine block on a Foreman 500?When installing a temp. gauge, can you also keep the original sensor for the factory "hot" light?

Does anyone know what the factory temp. sensor thread size is?Where is it located at on the 500 Foreman?Wouldn't it be better to get the temperature reading from the factory location rather than a cooler line?

How about cutting the oil cooler pipe and using a compression fittingand tee to install the sensor? Is the oil cooler line some kind of crazy metric size too?

That cylinder head temp. gauge sounds like the easiest way to go.Where do you buy one of these?

Summit racing has the Autometer cyl. head temp. gauge and sensor that mounts at the sparkplug. $43.95 for the gauge and get this,$78.95 for the sensor! It'll be a couple weeks before I get the money together then I'll order them.I found that the 2 and 1/16 inch gauge should fit perfectly between the gas cap and the seat. There's plenty of room under that plastic piece for clearance.

I called Autometer directly today and they said the sparkplug mount sensor will not work with the cylinder head temp. gauges.A sensor is included with the gauge.Just drill and tap a blind hole so 2 or 3 threads will engage. The sparkplug type sensor is for a gauge that they no longer make.Where would be a good spot to drill a blind hole about 3/16" deep?

I've decided on using a VDO cylinder temp. gauge. It uses the washer type sensor that's supposed to be installed on the spark plug.Wouldn't the spark plug be the hottest part of the head? What kind of temps. do these motors run at?I was thinking about mounting the sensor under a head bolt instead of the spark plug.
