I just got done installing a gear reduction in my Foreman 450. I took it out today and test drove it. Man what a difference its like a different machine. I cant wait to take it out and see what it will really do. If you want a cheap upgrade for power and semi easly install then you need to put one of these in.

I bought it off of Ebay it was used but in good shape, I spent $75.00 on the kit and arround $14.00 to ship it to me. I did find out that it can be done with a regular gear puller and a hose clamp. It worked great and saved me $50.00 on buying a Honda clutch puller.

What is your top speed now?.....im thinking about getting one too, but i dont want it to top out at 25 mph....lol

I have not taken it out and opened it up yet. With mine it should even things out and the top speed should be about the same as stock since I am now running 28 inch tires, if my figures are correct but I have been wrong before.

did you have to do any grinding in your case? or was it a fairly straight forward bolt on/in mod?

Its a straight bolt in no grinding needed all I had to do was remove the mud flaps on the bottom of my fenders and the inner fender wells. Then the oil lines and the front cover. Next was the the clutches and replaced the clutch basket with the new one and the new gear behind the centrifical clutch. Then I put it back together and that was all there was to it.

do you think it would be a good idea for 27 mud bugs or is a clutch kit all i will need

I would do both since you will be in there anyhow. But I think the gear reduction will give u more bang for your buck

you are right the gr is the better bang for the buck. I also would do both being you are already in there. it is a straight bolt on. you should not lose to much top speed I would guess top speed would be a round 40/42 mph. Then you may not lose any based on ur tire size.

would someone be able to answer my question. where can i get a gear reduction for my 07 foreman 500.

ya but could i turn those 27 with out it? That would mean i would go from 74km to 64km thats a big drop

we drive road a lot farm to farm and trail to trail
dont want to be behind on the road even if i pass them in the mud

I installed a gear reduction and clutch kit awhile back on the bike in my sig. Very easy. Makes a world of difference. My top speed is around 40 mph with 29.5 Outlaws. For the reduction all is needed is a 300 clutch basket and primary gear. Just drop in and go. Of course you will need a gasket for the front crankcase (comes with the clutch kit from High Lifter). I went ahead and bought new nuts (like $12) which must be staked. I don't mind the minimal speed loss because i rarely need to get over 25-30 mph anyway.
