I've called Honda and everyone else trying to find out how to drain the carb and still no luck. I can't find the drain plug. Is there any way someone could show me a pic of this. I have a 04 450 that sat for a year and won't start now. Also how do you drain the tank? I've already changed the plug hoping that it was fouled but that wasn't it. Any help would be very appreciated!

drain

I don't have a picture, but it is easy. You will have to find the gas line that connects your tank to the carb (it will be on the left hand side of the quad when you are sitting on it). There is a spring clip that holds the tube to the carb, so you will need to put a few rags around that area and have a container ready to catch the gas. You remove the gas tube from the carb and quickly put it into the container so it will catch the gas. Then turn the fuel to reserve and let all of the gas out (I had to rock mine back and forth to get it all out). I would add a little fresh gas to wash out the junk (do this when you are draining the tank, so you don't wash more stuff into your carb). When you are finished, reconnect the gas line and make sure it is secure. On the opposite side of the bike you can remove the side panel below the seat. You will see a screw on the side of the carb that is the drain screw. Use a screw driver bit that fits the screw and make sure you have a container to catch the gas below the carb drain tube (comes out near the rear swing arm behind the bike). You will turn the screw counter clockwise to drain the carb (it is hard to get started sometimes, but it will drain the bowl). Close the screw and put some fresh gas in the tank. This worked for me, but I'm sure some other guys can add some tips (my delaer told me to blow some compressed air in the carb if I had any problems...after the gas is drained out of the bowl).

Ok today I drained the tank, and drained the reserve. I went to drain the carb and nothing comes out.. it's like there's no gas in the bowl?? Is there anything else I can do that anyone knows of? I even primed it and there was still no gas coming out of the drain tube.. any suggestions would be appreciated, this is so frustrating!

The drain tube could be plugged with debris also.Remove the check valve in the drain tube open the drain screw and try to blow some air back towards the carb, use low air pressure from your compressor. Then open the fuel supply from the tank if no fuel comes out then you will have to remove the carb bowl clean it out and check the float. When a bike is stored for a long period of the fuel will evaporate and leave a gooey deposit.Use fuel stabilizer in your fuel to avoid this in the future.
