HOW MUCH OIL?

I changed my oil and put in a new filter. How much oil do I put back in? I was told 3.2 qts. I put in 3 qts plus just a little bit of another qt. and it seems to be more than it should. I was hoping that the filter was going to soak up some of the oil. Any help?

The manual calls for 2.21 qts. I usually put 2 qts in and check it, then add alittle more as needed.

I put in 2 and 1/2 quarts.
