See my other post under"Installing and oil temp. gauge". But I'm wondering what is a normal Honda air cooled engine temp.?I use mine for working alot and Man this thing seems hot! the temp. light has never come on but when I'm working it skidding logs the fan is always running.I've wondered if it would help to remove the side plastics on the engine, seems like they hold a lot of heat in.

If you do alot of work in one spot...and not moving, there is no air being pushed past the motor to cool it down.. This may be the culprit.. I know you can't change what your doing, but this may be why the fan keeps coming on and staying on..

Yeah,When I'm moving it's usually very slow,1ST. gear and the rpm's are high.It just bugs me not knowing what the temp. actually is.I ordered the VDO gauge from Jeg's,should have it tommorow.I'd like to what kind of temps. it is supposed to be so I have a base line to compare to.

I agree...Honda Mechanic will pop up after he gets off work and tell you the temps... Knowing how hot you can go and what temp you are at will help you either stop or monitor it before you do damage to the motor. Good investment for the work you do.....
