Honestly you dont even have to worry about the pull rope.... I did seal mine up just to be safe... the only way i have found to get water in the oil is by sinking it. it goes down the crank case vent in the airbox. to seal the pull rope i just pulled it out about 6"s then rtv'd the base of the handle and let it go in... ive never got water in the oil other than when i sank it.. oh ya... un snorked your good for about 3- 3.5 ft of water snorked you can float anything thats not movin too fast!
