HMF Utility on the way.....

So i finally ordered a HMF for my 500 foreman. Ive was told it comes with jets. But im a little confused on what to do. Im running a UNI filter also. I live at 1500ft so i figured i would run the 170 jet. What are the steps to replace the jet? because i have never torn into a carb on a 4wheeler. After i change the jet do i need to adjust the a/f mixture? or only jetting?
thanks-
sam

Congrats Diesel, you'll love it. What you need to do is loosen your carb clamps and spin the carb to the left (exhaust) side then you will be able to access the float bowl. Take the 4 screws out on the float bowl and gently take it off. You will be able to see the main jet once the bowl is off. Use a wide flat screwdriver to unscrew it. Put your new one in and replace bowl. Now your a/f screw is in the front of the carb next to the float bowl going straight up from the bottom. The head of the screw looks like a "D" instead of the normal phillips. What I did was I took some tweezers and worked it all the way out and used a dremel tool to grind a thin slot in order to use a small flat screwdriver. Be very carefull if you do this because with the screw out you could injur the needle end of the screw. My instructions said to lightly bottom your screw and back it out 2 1/2 turns from bottom. This puts you pretty close. I am running a HMF utility , K&N filter, but mine was pretty rich with the 170 jet so I stepped down to the 165 main, which is still larger than the stock 162. Mine seems to be doing good and I also live in Tn. I actually called hmf because with the 170 in I lost gas mileage bad. My 80 miles to the tank went down to 50 so HMF suggested I try the 165, walla , back to 70 miles a tank and not running rich anymore. Every atv is different though, the 170 might work better in yours than mine.

hey thanks sounds simply enough. do they make a special tool to fit the air fuel screw?
should come with the jet kit.
robb: the im not getting a jet kit with the pipe. its just coming with the jets and thats it.
Unfortunately they don't come with the special tool. The Dynojet kit does though. You might could call them and see if they will sell the tool seperate. Thats why I worked mine out with some tweezers and put a slot in it.
so i just put installed the HMF on my 500. I thought that it would come with a few different jet sizes but it only came with the 165 size. I live at 1700ft should 165 be the right size? or do i need 170? Im going to tear into the carb tommarrow and put the jet in and adjust the a/f 2.5 turns out. does that sound right? btw the hmf sounds great!!!!!!

I went to the dealer and bought a new larger .170 jet. Runs great!
