I have read various posts about the Foreman 500 on different forums. Some positive some not. The positives usually revolve around durable, reliable, and good work quad. The negatives seem to be about the Foreman not having IRS, fuel injection, liquid cooling, as much power or top speed as other ATVs, etc. And a lot of people seem to buy them and enhance their performance with different air filters, clutch kits, mufflers, etc. I have learned a lot while reading people's posts and have been thinking about why I bought mine and why I plan to leave mine pretty much stock (added Oxlite guards on the front). I am new to ATVs and don't feel the need for tons of speed (the mid fifties is fine with me). And the Foreman has taken me everywhere I have asked it to. Also, I really had to lobby with my wife to get the Foreman and know that she would not be supportive of further investment in it. I have ridden my friend's Polaris Sportman 500 and 800 and enjoyed them very much. But even after riding those I am still very happy with my Foreman. I am more of a cruiser than a hard charger when riding. It will be put to work in the future also. I got the Foreman brand new for $4794 total out the door (Oxlites extra) which helped convince my wife. After all I've read, I can see that it is a good thing that there are different ATVs and aftermarket parts for different riders.

I bought mine for the same reasons, though I have no wife to deal with on the investment issue of it I bought my 06 ES in Feb. for $4783 OTD with the free 2 yrs extended warranty that I upgraded to 4 years for $225 more. Yeah, they may not be as "fancy" as some of the new ones but I don't want to have to worry about problems with the machine down the road and that's one thing I've seen first hand is that they are durable. A buddy of mine has the exact foreman I have now with no modifications at all and he has literally beat the living sh#t out of it! I t's been rolled, flipped, slammed into, submerged under water numerous times, water in the crankcase, etc and the thing still keeps going like nothing has ever happened to it. This was one of the main reasons I bought the foreman over a suzuki king quad 450 or 700 (and the $2000 price difference also!)
I also have an 04 Suzuki Ozark that is a great quad and only had one minor warranty issue with it and would recommend it to anyone for an entry level quad, even over the Recon. I also have an 03 polaris sportsman 90 that is my sons and even though it's the perfect kids quad for size, ease and power it seems like I'm always adjusting brakes, chain (removing links), and tightening bolts, etc. Luckily he's about a year away from moving up to the Ozark.
The foreman to me was an all around simple machine that I would get years of service out of with hopefully no issues and with the incentives Honda was giving out back in February, you couldn't go wrong buying one. My friend is still PO'ed because he still owes more on his quad he bought last june than what I paid for mine with the same warranty etc. I believe he had right at $7000 in his when all was said and done, Including the extended warranty.

I bought mine because I think they are the best looking atv out there. Also, I think they hold their resale value the best ( judging by the for sale ads in papers and on dealer lots) and they are extremely reliable. Plus, Honda Foremans, still have gears. Whether riding a motorcycle or atv, half the fun is being able to shift gears.

My Rancher and Foreman both were bought for the durability. We mostly ride in a hunt club we belong to.It has a little bit of everything, cypress swamps, rock pits and miles and miles of dirt roads,30,000 acres to be exact.I just want to go ridin and not be broke down much and the Honda's are perfect for that.
