Help! Still having a Fourtrax Problem

I went riding yesterday and I still have a fourtrax problem. When I go from 4x4 to 4x2 the quad will not disenage unless I speed up quit a bit, upshift or downshift or tap the front brake. When I slow all the way down to a stop it will still disenagage and it's in 4x2 when I speed up the 4x4 reenages and the light comes back on even though it's in 4x2 unless i shift it a little hard coming out of first and give it some gas and then it disengage to 4x2 like it should and the light will go out. I thought as soon as I go from 4x4 to 4x2 it should change over fairly quick. Is this not right? Any suppestions or is this something I have to live with. Thanks for any replys
