ok, today i go to move my Foreman to mount the plow. and it just revs up and doesnt move!. it only shifts into R N 1st gear. the shifting has only been limited to those 3 gears for since Jan 13/07. From then i only put about 5-7kms (plowing snow) since then. this is not cool one bit. Does my foreman need a trip to the stealer-ship?
BTW its a 2002 Honda Foreman 450 ES

thanks,
Chris

had the same problem last winter
need new battery
changed mine and everything was fine
good luck
the foreman has a pretty new battery..put in last summer put around 2000kms on it since then.. anyone else? thanks yellow foreman for the reply,
Chris
my gess would also be the battery, sometimes the ES models are funny when the battery is low. it seems like if 4wheelers set just for a few months that the battery is shot.

Do you store it in the cold. My buddies does that after plowing, he just puts it in a heated area for a couple of hours and it is fine after that. Yellow foreman is correct to say the battery has alot to do with the es working properly.
hurmm i PMed Honda Mechanic on HighLifter and he said it could be the clutch. i'l hook up the charger 2morrow and see if that does anything.
I do store it in the a cold garage after plowing, but that hasent hurt anything in the past..

thanks
chris
Make sure you unhook the battery leads first.

For some reason if the leads are left on while charging it somtimes adds thousands of miles to your odometer!!! Not Joking either.
I can see how a low battery could keep her from shifting, did you try shifting it manualy into gear? will it move then? if not then you may have something like a clutch slipping.

yup i did the manel shift thing.. no go. Its headed to the dealer as soon as i get the time.
you could take your clutch out and give it a look at, it may just be bad and if you take it apart it will save you alot of $$. i have put a new clutch in a honda and its pretty easy, im sure people on here could help you out if you needed it.

i took it into the dealership this morning, should know by 3o'clock whats wrong with my great Foreman..

as i drove it into the dealer we passed the polairs dealership and thoughts of a 800EFI crossed my mind... then i slaped myself in the face ahahaahhah

Chris
its not lookin that bad, it goina cost me for for labor then parts they said some "star wheel" backed off in the trani, anyway there goina call again today with an update. this is march break week down in Cape Breton, hopefully i'l get out at least once on the bike!!
a trip to the dealer and $320 bucks later shes working fine. that dam bolt backed out causeing it not to shift rite and some star wheel that backed out in the trani causeing it not to move. New oil is always good!

Very Very Glad to have my foreman back
Chris
