foreman 450 es cooling fan running all the time. engine off, key on fan still runs. oil temp light is not on, it does come on when oil gets hot. Any ideas? all i read about on here is people having trouble with fans not working. i need help getting mine to stop working!

Welcome to the forum. I would guess the fan control unit to be the problem but it could be a shorted wire at the fan connection. If your light was on all the time I would have said a shorted wire down by the temp sensor but that is not the issue. You could try tapping on the unit with a handle of a screw driver, sometimes it works to make them operate correctly for a while. It is the smaller black electrical box under the front fender.
Welcome aboard. Great tips from TD. Definitely not the typical issue!

See if the attached wiring diagram helps. There is a fan controler (Probably a relay) and the power seems to flow through the ECM also.

The controller grounds through the Temp Sensor Switch it looks like.

Pay careful attention to what wire goes where and back track. Maybe try unplugging components to see which one kills the fan.

I don't have a copy of the "Component Locator Diagram" sorry.

I am having the same problem. checked all the wiring and everything checks out. Does anyone know if the PGM-FI unit control the fan. If I disconnect the square connection on the PGM unit, the fan shuts off. that's the only thing I have found, just not sure if that controls the fan also.
There is a Cooling fan control unit that might need replacing. When I got my 459 ES the cooling fan would come on at random times when not necessary and to oil temp light. I changed the Cooling fan control unit and end of problem. I got lucky and found a control unit at Dennis Kirk's but I checked and they don't have one in stock right now. It was less than $100 back then. I'll try to add a pic but never tried it before.
