In my opinion buy a 60 series Garmin. Many of us in my area have these and they work excellent. Waterproof, has all the features you need. Can also get ram mounts for right on your handlebars and will tuck in nice out of the way. I have added a pic of my setup.
Wow that looks like the cockpit of a fighter jet. Cool tow list though

I use an old Magellan its basic and tough but it works for me. I have been looking at newer ones also and garmins look good.
I thought the tow list was a cool thing too.
Made me laugh!

Everything except the 2 switches on the pod has been water and mud tested and all is good (the 2 switches are recent). As for the tow list, thought I might mention this isn't just a pulled them out of the mud list, it a tow me all the way back to the trucks list...hehehe.

Who would have known you are from way up north in Canada.......Maybe the heated visor plug????

Nice setup for the winter riding.I give you major credit for building it right.

LOL, guess the heated grips and visor plug is a bit of a giveaway.....if you get into powder the tracks can really throw the snow.
Once again, i am very impressed by your rig!

I finally found a supplier down here for the Quadrax storage boxes, and I've already got the rear put on, and I'm ordering the front.

But where did you get those switches that are you your handlebars? The ones that control the backup light, and the lights on the front of the box.

Thanks!

-Tim
tim does the dealer for those boxs have a web page
It wasn't a place online that I found. I searched the web, but failed to find any.

I was just at my local Sportsman's Warehouse (retail store similar to Bass Pro Shop) and they stocked them! I was VERY surprised, and immediately purchased.

i see. chances of me finding one of this around this little bitty town would not be great. so are they water proof?

Thanks again, hope you enjoy the new boxes, think mine are great and sure help with the extra gear. The switches I purchased from my local honda dealer but I believe they are actually a yamaha part, I don't have the part number or I'd post it for you. Real nice switch though, comes with the harness off the back and clamps right around the bars. If I am by the dealer in the next while I will try to get a number for you.
I use a garmin etrex legend with topo.maps...
Hey.. Post above, how did you mount that puppy, looks good.

A handlebar mounting bracket from wal-mart around $20....
magellan sportrak map here. the topo maps are a nice addition and it interfaces with my pc really easily, so i can overlay my tracks onto satellite images. it's the only way i can show my friends (who don't ride) how deep we go into the mountains here! made a custom mount that has survived some serious incidents , including about 9 flips down a slippery mountainside a couple years back.
