If the gear locker is installed on a Foreman 500 with the 4 wheel drive switch to put it in 4 wheel or take it out will it make it all the time 4x4 or will u still have the option of in or out?

if you put a GEARED locker in it like a spool you will have both front tires turning at the same rate but no power to them in 2wd in 4wd it will be locked w/ a detroit locker you have a true 2 and 4 wheel drive
the DGL is for locking both front wheels to turn at the same time in 4x4 mode . the front wheels are still controlled by the switch and the bike will still switch to 2x4 mode and turn normal with a DGL locker installed.
most all new hondas only have one front wheel with power to it at a time so the bike is not a true 4x4 but a 3x4 and the DGL fixes that .

Now a spool locker is cheaper and it does the same thing but in 4x4 mode the bike will be harder to turn because there is zero slip between the front wheels when turning, they turn at the same ratio. which causes one to drag .
kinda like its shorter to take the inside line in a race , the outside is longer and must turn more .get it?
would this gear locker work in a 2000 es with full time 4 x 4? or is it already a true 4 x 4?
only the rear wheels lock ,i think 90% that you need a locker for the front to get the true 4x4 on a 2000.
Will the DGL make it harder to steer when your in 2x4 mode?
no change in 2x4. only a little harder in 4x4 when on the trottle
My 00' Foreman is all time 4x4 and I have a spool locker in the front and she is not the bike I would want to take on long trail rides. You can make the 00' 2x4 with a kit from warn. I think that is my next purchase after the disk brake kits.

mudman, Have you noticed extra wear on your axles or other front end components with a spool? I'm looking at getting one. Also, do you feel it would help or hinder my ability to plow snow?
